Follow up on the chairs

We have had a funny week – hubby had strep throat, and we had some funky (but thankfully not too expensive) plumbing issues. So, now that we’re out of it, I can FINALLY follow up on the fabulous Modernism show that was TWO WEEKS ago (sigh, I really have lost track of time!).

Our chair (which you’ll find here) came from HealthWorks, a fabulous company that does cabinetry, kitchen design , Upholstery and millwork and they have a great knowledge and love of Mid Century style. Pat, does some awesome upholsterly and so along with our chair, we’re going to have her redo another one we have in our living room!

However, she does have some FABULOUS chairs available that I thought you Mid Century folks would like to drool over and buy! She’s VERY reasonable and best of all loves to have her chairs go to a good home! 😀

Rand McNally error is corrected thanks the Route 66 Online community

The mistake appears on first releases of Missouri maps in the 2012 “Road Atlas Large Scale,” “Road Atlas Deluxe Midsize” and “Road Atlas Midsize.” The error is pretty clear on Frank’s great illustration here: Rand McNally incorrectly

I might email him and see if I can link to his powerpoint on my blog (stay tuned for that). But one point that came up was how replacing your windows is NOT the best for the earth OR your house. Now, I don’t know

#6 Tile in 50's houses

I took a couple of days off (to catch up on work) and now I’m back…here’s the #6 detail…tile floors in 50’s homes. I saw this photo on the the 50’s interior design flickr group from Miss Retro Modern’s post to the group. This reminded me that I’ve never posted pictures of our basement floor…which I adamantly am against removing even though most of the tiles are popping up and they’re full of asbestos (hey,

Matching Mid-Century Modern needs and wants! Yay!

The good news here in Mid Century style land is that Holly Taylor from National Geographic was able to find a good location for her living room shoot: http://www.danieldonnelly.com/ or Daniel Donnelly has a great showroom with plenty of space to shoot an “emergency” mid-century living room. Check out my post on the subject if you missed all the action! Oh, be sure to go over and drool (you KNOW I need that sofa in the
