Hip house for sale in the 'hood and another site if you're shopping!

I have a new friend who writes for our local (as in neighborhood) newspaper and she turned me onto this house that’s just come up for sale. It’s near Sloan’s lake, which is a neat lake (and getting nicer all the time. I have posted another interior photos on Flickr if you’re interested (or just want to drool – the price is a modest $365,000)….the house is posted here (although the site has been down most of the day…try again later!).

I love that 50’s houses are becoming more respected. I think the interiors are more spacious and easy to work with and they are fun to decorate!

On our webring, there’s another 50’s realtor fanatic, I especially enjoyed her post on: 5280 Mod: What’s Wrong with this Mod Redo?

Anyway, if you haven’t

We’re going to finish it all up! Woo hoo! First, the patio, but we’ve decided to move our garden and put in a playhouse for the kids. Which leads me to playhouses….first, they’re all colonial. Second, they all are a bit

Mies van der Rohe’s gas station in Montreal preservation success!

It’s wonderful when we can report a Mid-Century preservation success: “Long, low and in his trademark black steel, the shuttered-since-2008 Esso station by Bauhaus master Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, at boulevard de l’Île des Soeurs and rue Berlioz in Montreal’s Nuns’ Island community, currently lies stripped of a little of its beauty – huge sheets of glass and their associated mullions have been numbered and disassembled for restoration – but by autumn, the building
