Ward Jenkins – a Mid-Century Friend

One of my favorite folks I “met” (virtually of course) in the world of Mid Century is Ward Jenkins. He’s featured this month as “Flip Animations” featured Artist. Not only is he a really cool artist (with a graffiti background – which I love) but he’s a huge mid-century fan. I’ve read his blog for ages – and he has an awesome Flickr group for Retro Teen art and Retro Kid – both of which have some of the most awesome collection of mid-century illustrations anywhere. He quite often researches mid-century illustrators and shows illustrations we all take for granted. Fun guy, Dad and a pretty fantastic artist. Oh, and he’s illustrated a kids book too: How to Train with a T. Rex and Win 8 Gold Medals.

Rough-faced stone walls and a large stainless steel sign on the east facade add to it’s distinctly Chicago Mid-Century design.
