Retro Roadtrip: Silver Saddle Motel in Manitou Springs

Our second night in Manitou Springs we decided to try another mid-century motel – and we were lucky to stumble on the Silver Saddle Motel – locally owned by Artur Bryja and Brittany Kelly, we found the staff very friendly, the rooms andd facitilies clean and it was pet friendly!

Although our room didn’t have one, they offer in-room Jacuzzi tubs and a cute  heated outdoor pool.  They offer non-smoking only double and single bed guest rooms,  on-site laundry facilities, business center, and a nice variety in their seasonal continental breakfast. They also offer in-room coffee makers, high-speed wireless Internet (which was a bit spotty in connection), A/C and heating units, and convenient front door parking.

The old double six is also a railroad buffs paradise. From Chicago to Santa Monica vestiges from the golden age of rail travel abound. As the origins of Route 66 are firmly rooted in the railroad, it is rather fitting that the first landmark of note

Denver Modern Homes and life

I ran across Denver Modern Homes ages ago and thought I’d give you all a link to it. I hope they pop over and join our webring…I really need to set aside time to promote it more, but it seems to grow a bit more each month, so that’s something, eh? Which brings me to what I’ve really been working on this week, the launch of a new website for a local quilt shop….Quilt Cabin.

Our bushes and trimmed and neat

You all may remember our bushes in front of our house: Here’s what a professional does with them. Not that I did a “bad” job, but hoo-whee, I think they look terrific like this! Anyone know what these bushes are? I tried to do a search on evergreens and bushes and can’t seem to find a species. Again maybe part of the unpopularity of 50’s flora and fauna? Oh, and I had a wonderful email
