Help Save The Wallbank House in Belcaro

As much as I love the Denver Metro area, it lags behind in some areas, and one is being able to designate this house as a landmark so it can be saved!

Gorgeous, isn’t it?

The Wallbank House in Belcaro, a 1958 Usonian-design by Tician Papachristou and Daniel Havekost.
According to Shannon Stanboro of 5280mod.com,

The Denver Landmark Preservation Commission is holding a public hearing on Tuesday, December 7, regarding the landmark designation of this midmod gem designed by Tician Papachristou, an associate of Marcel Breuer. If it is not designated a landmark, it will be demolished!!!We’re facing an up-hill battle on this one, so if you have the time and inclination to speak at the hearing, please let me know!

*NOTE 10-24- Sadly this house was lost.

We haven’t done book reviews on Mid-Century style yet, but perhaps that’s because we didn’t know “Pillow Stalk” was out there.   Written by Diane Vallere, this book is custom made for Mid-Century fanatics who enjoy a good cozy mystery! Born on the same date, Interior Decorator Madison Night has modeled her life after Doris Day, but when a killer targets women dressed like the bubbly actress, Madison’s signature sixties style places her in the middle

Travel Route 66 – a handy companion for a trip down the “Mother Road”

Having used this book twice now on different trips along Route 66, I feel very slack in not writing a glowing review! Travel Route 66: a guide to the history, sights, and destinations along the main street of America is like having Jim Hinkley, the author, right in the car with you helping you decide where to turn off or what sites are the most important. Starting from Illinois and traveling with you along Route
